Exploring the Relationship Between EFT and Chakras

When we’re just starting to explore the mind-body connection via EFT tapping and want to learn more, the information available can often be confusing, conflicting, or just too far out there for us to get on board. That’s why I like using the chakras to help unravel the mysteries of the body and how it correspond to what’s happening for us emotionally and physically. The chakras are the simplest and most straightforward way to decode the messages our bodies are sending us.

What are Chakras?

Chakras are energy centers located in our bodies. They start at the base of our tailbone and extend in a line up to the top of our head. There are seven main energy centers, and each center governs major aspects of our life.

Each center also corresponds to different organs and systems in our bodies. It’s especially helpful to understand the basics of each chakra in case something comes up for us physically.

When we use EFT and chakras together, we have a much better chance of deciphering what our body is trying to tell us and address it with EFT tapping.

Emotions with the Root Chakra

Emotions associated with this chakra are generally related to family, physical safety, support, and security in the world. We may ask ourselves the following questions while working on our root chakra:

  • Do I feel physically safe? Financially safe?
  • Do I feel like I belong? Do I feel wanted?
  • Do I have a community or family that supports me?
  • Do I feel comfortable in my body? Do I trust my body?

Emotions with the Sacral Chakra

  • Do I feel free and independent pursuing dreams and goals?
  • Do I feel undeserving or guilty for wanting more for my life?
  • Do I have a healthy balance between power and vulnerability in my relationships, in finances and with intimacy or does something feel out of whack?
  • Am I creating my ideal life, letting someone else’s version of an ideal life be mine, or have I given up?

Ultimately, the ideal situation is to have a healthy balance between power and vulnerability. If we’re all power and drive and mow over others in our relationships, then our second chakra is likely out of balance. Likewise, if we’re very passive in our relationships and wait for everything and everyone to come to us, then that’s out of balance in the opposite way. Being able to identify and express all our desires and needs, including the unpopular ones, is key for health in the sacral chakra.

Emotions with the Solar Plexus Chakra

Emotions associated with this chakra include feelings around self-esteem, identity, adequacy, boundaries, competition, and limitations. When we are evaluating this chakra, we may ask ourselves:

  • If I win or lose, will I still retain my sense of self?
  • Do I tolerate my shortcomings? Do I celebrate my strengths?
  • Am I willing to shine into my gifts, willingly stepping into the spotlight?
  • Am I aggressive and defensive in appropriate, balanced ways?

Balance in this energy center means being able to succeed or fail without losing our sense of self. If we can’t answer “yes” to the questions above, we need to work on our third chakra.

Problems can arise in this area when:

  • We don’t allow ourselves to accept the love of others
  • There’s a desperate grab for love from others
  • We stand in judgment of whether others deserve love and compassion

Having this kind of armor around our heart prevents the flow of love in either direction and shuts down our ability to experience joy. Releasing that armor means opening ourselves to joy and love. This can open our heart’s blood vessels and give us a feeling of expansion.

It’s important to note here that the heart is the center of all the chakras. It’s the meeting place for the divine, masculine (upper) chakras, and the earthly, feminine (lower) chakras. The heart is where the best of both worlds can meet and experience love and joy – the whole reason we’re here.

The balance between expressing our own truth and listening to others is the cornerstone for health in the fifth chakra. It also includes a balance between pushing to move forward and waiting for what we want to come our way, between being willful and compliant. All these things contribute to the health of the fifth chakra organs.

The throat chakra is also where our inner thoughts and feelings are released to the world. Our inner and outer worlds are connected here. In essence, this energy center governs the ability to achieve some power in the world, express our desires, and alter our world to achieve that desire.

For this energy center we need to be able to balance the ways we think. Although it might sound odd, balance in this chakra comes with a touch of knowledge and ignorance, rational and irrational thought, and control and flexibility. Basically, it’s the best parts of our right and left brains. If we’re experiencing issues in the organs of the sixth energy center, evaluating whether we’re stuck in a certain way of thinking may give us the best chance of success at healing.

The seventh chakra has to do with our purpose in life. We may ask ourselves these questions:

  • Why am I here?
  • What’s the meaning of my life?
  • Am I fulfilling my purpose?
  • Am I also allowing events to happen and unfold over time?

The failure to connect with this purpose can have a significant impact on our muscles, connective tissue, and genes. When this energy center is balanced, we can have a clear sense of purpose and conviction. We also need to allow events to happen and the vision of our life to unfold in its own time. Surrendering to that paradox of power and vulnerability here, as with all the other chakras, is the key.

A disclaimer when thinking about EFT and Chakras

I want to offer a disclaimer to this intricate energetic roadmap to our body and its connection to our physical health – One size does not fit all.

It would make things much easier if it did, but the information presented here is generally what shows up. People are awesomely unique and each of us beats to our own drum. This information is meant to be a loose guide or map about what’s contributing to our physical and emotional issues.

I hope we all find the insight we’re searching for here to focus our healing and tapping in a way that feels good and achieves results. If not, don’t lose hope. The answer WILL find us if we keep searching and tapping.

How to Tap on the Chakras

Applying the magic of EFT tapping to the chakras helped me to understand there’s a natural order to healing, as well as many other things in nature. And using that natural approach with tapping contributes to a more effective and efficient healing process.

Everythi
ng must be healed in the order it was created in. What I mean by that is, it’s much harder to focus on bringing a significant other into my life (for example) if there’s a deep belief that I’m not worthy or deserving of love. That would essentially be jumping ahead to the heart chakra (4th chakra) when I still have massive healing to do in the root chakra (1st chakra). And healing that part of me could drastically change the type of relationship I’m willing to enter into.

Many people want to work on the heart chakra and the crown chakra first, but without focusing on and healing the root chakra and working your way up, you will not address the core issues that lay the groundwork for deeper healing at all levels.

Healing the chakras through tapping should happen in ascending order to make the biggest impact.
